PSG Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
